Introducing Kerry: Meet the Egg Helpers Staff

This is our last post in our series where we've introduced some of Egg Helper's key players that are a part of our staff. As a donor or an Intended Parent, you will have direct contact with certain staff members, and for others, they play a behind the scenes role to help support our mission. No matter their role, everyone on our team is inspired by the selfless generosity of our donors and are here to help make this a rewarding experience for everyone involved.

Position: Account Specialist

What lead you to Egg Helpers and how long have you been here?

I wanted a change in my career that allowed for more flexibility in my hours and more time with my family. The thought of helping others create a family and knowing how important having children of my own was, I decided to take the chance to apply for a job I knew I would be happy with for the rest of my career! I originally started with Canadian Fertility Consulting in June of 2017 and transferred to Egg Helpers in January of 2019 to take the lead in the Finance Department.

What does your day-to-day job include?

I am the main point of contact for anything related to finances and responsible for sending match sheets to the clinics and legal referrals to the lawyers. My day is usually very full as I am the only member of the finance team for Egg Helpers.

What is your outside of work life like?

I have been happily married for 17 years and with my husband for a total of 22 years. We have two amazing boys aged 14 and 16 who keep us very busy! I volunteer my time with local sporting organizations, schools and charities and encourage our sons to do the same. We spend a lot of time travelling for competitive sports which keeps us very busy but allows us to spend time as a family cheering each other on and exploring different areas of Ontario, Canada and the USA.

Do you have any hobbies or fun family stories?

I love reading, biking (pedal & motorcycle), hiking, camping, travelling, sports and pretty much anything to do with the outdoors and family and friends.​

Favourite foods or movies?

I love trying foods from all ethnicities and the experience of doing so! I travelled to China to teach English as a second language and was the Vice-Principal of an International Bilingual Kindergarten. I met some amazing families while there and took in as much as I could to experience the culture. I made some amazing friends and loved getting to know the children that I taught as well as teaching them about my Canadian culture. My favourite movie is Dirty Dancing.​

When would an Egg Helpers client contact you?

I'm the main point of contact for Intended Parents, Donors, Clinics, and Lawyers when it comes to sending and receiving reimbursement account fees, donor reimbursements and paying clinic and lawyer invoices.​

Have you been an egg donor?

No, but I have nothing but the utmost respect for all of our amazing donors!

What is your favourite thing about your job?

I love helping families making their dreams come true by helping create the family they want and deserve. It's always amazing and heartwarming to get news and pictures from Intended Parents on the birth of their children.
